Fibers that input into the cerebellum pass through the superior, middle, and inferior cerebellar peduncles and reach the cerebral cortex, while extending a lateral branch into the cerebellar nuclei. Input fibers are sent to the cerebellum from the hypothalamus and locus ceruleus through the superior cerebellar peduncle; from the pontine, tegmental pontine reticular, and pontine raphe nuclei through the middle cerebellar peduncle; and from the inferior olivary nuclei of the medulla oblongata, paramedian reticular nuclei, lateral reticular nuclei, and nucleus raphe magnus through the inferior cerebellar peduncle.
