Hematoxylin-eosin stain

Info?

  • The axons cut transversely are seen (a circle). Blue arrow indicate the nuclei of the astrocytes. Yellow arrows indicate those of the oligodendroglia, which are smaller in comparison with the astrocytes.

Kluver-Barrera stain

Info?

  • The ring-like myelin sheaths surrounding the axons are seen (a circle). A yellow arrow indicate the nucleus of the astrocytes, and a red arrow indicate that of the oligodendroglia.

Bodian stain

Info?

  • There are both the thick axons (arrows) and the thin axons (circles) in the lateral column. The former axons are those of the motor neurons.
