ガリアス染色は多くのリン酸化タウの凝集体を黒く染めます（ピック球は染まりません）。そして、リン酸化αシヌクレインの凝集体である多系統萎縮症のグリア細胞質内封入体も黒く染めます。明瞭にターゲットを染めるため有用な染色法です。ガリアス染色は毎回安定した染色結果が得られて良い染色法だと思います。でも、どのように銀イオンがこれら凝集体に選択的に結合するのか、などの詳しい機序は明らかになっていません。

Gallyas-Braak stain is a method to label most of the phosphorylated tau deposits other than Pick bodies and GCIs of MSA. This method is useful to visualize those deposits. It gives us stable and clear reactions every time. But the detail of the mechanism of this method such as how the silver ions attach to the specific targets is unknown.
